Phonics being taught here are the K and k sounds, and graphemes and words include K, and k as in Pink. We have carefully curated the videos here to help students learn the sounds and spellings of these words, and the videos get harder as they go on. We have also included a Ice King Freeze game dance, a song about finding your socks (yes we are referring back here to the ck grapheme we learned under C, which effectively makes the same sound), kicking, flying a kite and the colour Pink, and the usual quiz and writing guide! I hummed and harred for ages over C and K and what order to teach it. Strictly, the Truphonics system is about grouping sounds, so I initially put all the sounds under C which left nothing new to learn when we got to K. This would have been confusing for students though who have a strong idea about the sequence of the alphabet. So, although the two letters ARE the same sound, I've kept them separated by their graphemes. Young minds are very adaptable and will be able to accept that they both have the same sounds. It's OLDER minds (like mine) that look at this and go... hmmm?
