With the BEGINNER Letter D videos we are introducing upper and lower case D , as well as four sounds, the long D vowel sound you hear when the letter D is talked about (we mark this with an upper case D since that is the sound the letter d makes when by itself, and it will often be seen in upper case form at the start of a sentence), and the short d vowel sound (we mark with a lower case d) you hear in our keyword duck. We also introduce two consonant clusters: the dr and dw sounds in drum and dwarf. We have a song about My daddy, but also the cheeky Daddy! song by Psy (skip if it's too outrageous for you) - and a dance version for students to dance to! We have a song introducing Diwali, another dinosaur dance (if the Psy dance is too hard!), the seven dwarves I ho Disney song, and an episode of the popular UK cartoon Superted (and the Stolen Rocket Ship) - all of which feature d sounds! In the Superted, Tex dreams of ruling the universe! Cartoons are great for students' listening comprehension and help them develop their 'ear' for English, their accent and pronunciation!
