ADVANCED - Teaching

These are the slightly harder ABC Songs and stories. There is an alphabet list of animals, and even a halloween list, and both of them have a word for every letter! I too learned some new words from these! There is also a writing video with animals to teach the upper and lower case letters! The goal here is to review the alphabet while teaching students some new words using each of the letters.

Superted

There is also an episode of the Superted cartoon, a very popular cartoon for kids that includes English AND American accents. It's our favourite cartoon to improve students' listening! The stories are not too long (under seven minutes), very well-written, with great music and animation, and the stories often have themes involving conservation and green issues (such as whaling, environmental exploitation and more). They also cover multiple genres (comedy, science fiction, fantasy, adventure, even a little light horror). They are understandable for those with basic English, but have lots of content for more advanced speakers too (even adults will enjoy some of the in-jokes). I have a personal connection to these cartoons: my late father, Michael Townend, was responsible for writing the music scores and has a credit at the end.
