With the BEGINNER Letter D videos we are introducing upper and lower case D , as well as three sounds, the long D vowel sound you hear when the letter D is talked about (we mark this with an upper case D since that is the sound the letter d makes when by itself, and it will often be seen in upper case form at the start of a sentence), and the short d vowel sound (we mark with a lower case d) you hear in our keyword duck. We also introduce our second consonant cluster and four letter word: the dr sound in drum. This is a natural evolution from the cr in crab we learned in the c lesson. There are several drumming activities you can do with the students, and a nice inspiring video of a young drummer drumming Baby Shark! As always, there are a few extra harder words in the videos (content makers always seem to want to teach dinosaur early on, probably because kids know it, but that is really an advanced word to spell!). These are fine for students to learn and listen to, though were are not yet focused on spelling them. There is also a video to teach the writing of the d letter!
