With the BEGINNER Letter B videos we are introducing upper and lower case B , as well as two sounds, the long B vowel sound you hear in the Honey Bee song (we mark this with an upper case B since that is the sound the letter b makes when by itself, and it will often be seen in upper case form at the start of a sentence), and the short b vowel sound (we mark with a lower case b) you hear in our keyword bat. Bee is not introduced here, since it has a slightly trickier double vowel that will be introduced in the e section. The Gummy Bear song introduces the word bear which is a key word for the INTERMEDIATE section, and is likely a word students know already. Wheels on the Bus and Baa Baa Black Sheep are popular children's songs with long histories, and the Body Bop song is a fun use of some more simple B words. Again, children's listening and speaking will be ahead of their reading and writing, so we want to introduce them to a wider range of words earlier, but keep the reading and spelling quite limited.
