ADVANCED - Teaching
With the BEGINNER Letter A videos we are introducing upper and lower case A, as well as two sounds, the long A vowel sound you hear in baby shark
(we mark this with an upper case A since that is the sound the letter a makes when by itself, and it will often be seen in upper case form at the start of a sentence),
and the short a vowel sound (we mark with a lower case a) you hear in ant. The two key words we are going to be introducing in this lesson are ant (for
the short a vowel sound), and day (for the long A vowel sound), so there is an ant marching song included (which is
also our dance song for this lesson), and the famous rain rain go away song. Rain is a key word for the INTERMEDIATE section, but this song also includes the key word day in it.
Some of the songs introduce a few new words such as apple and alligator which are harder words that will not be taught in this lesson in terms of reading and spelling,
but it's great for students to start hearing some extra and harder words (and many will already know these two words anyway! It always amazes me how ahead of the game some young students are when it comes to names of animals and food, dinosaurs and
the like!).
