Write Your Own Object Poem!

Now it is time to write your own poem about an object.

Reply to the forum and write your poem there.

Look at this example:

BEGINNER

iPhone

It is square like a picture.

It has a button like a light.

It can talk.

It has games.

It has an apple on the back.

It is an iphone.

INTERMEDIATE

Don't forget capital letters and full stops! And don't forget to put a title at the top and underline it.

You can use these questions to help you:

1 simile using 'like' - It is square like a picture.

2 similes using 'like' - It has a button like a light.

3 What can it do? - It can talk.

4 What does it have? - It has games.

5 What does it have? - It has an apple on the back

6 What is it? - It is an iphone.

ADVANCED

It might be nice to add a picture too! You can copy (CTRL + C) and paste (CTRL + V) a picture from google into your poem!

Oh, and if you are REALLY clever, you could make your object poem into a shape poem. A shape poem looks like the iphone! Like this...

It is square      like a picture.

It has a button    like a light.

It can talk.      It has games.

It has an apple on the back.

It is            an             iphone.

Do you see how I added spaces to try to make the poem look like an iphone? The 'an' at the bottom is like the button! Just press spacebar to add spaces!

Marks

Your teacher will give you marks like this.

10 - a perfect animal poem, with similes, no mistakes

8-9 - a couple of mistakes, or no similes

7 - a good poem, but more grammar mistakes

5-6 - poem is too short

1-4 - poem is not finished

+1 if it's a shape poem!

TIP - a good way to get higher marks is to ask your teacher to help check your work!
