Write Your Own Animal Poem!
Now it is time to write your own poem about an animal.
Reply to the forum and write your poem there.
Look at this example:
BEGINNER
Octopus
It is strange like an alien.
It has a beak like a parrot.
It eats fish.
It has eight arms.
It can change color.
It is an octopus.
INTERMEDIATE
Don't forget capital letters and full stops! And don't forget to put a title at the top and underline it.
You can use these questions to help you:
1 simile using 'like' - It is strange like an alien.
2 similes using 'like' - It has a beak like a parrot.
3 What does it eat? - It eats fish.
4 What does it have? - It has eight arms.
5 What can it do? - It can change color.
6 What is it? - It is an octopus.
ADVANCED
It might be nice to add a picture too! You can copy (CTRL + C) and paste (CTRL + V) a picture from google into your poem!
Oh, and if you are REALLY clever, you could make your animal poem into a shape poem. A shape poem looks like the animal! Like this...

Your teacher will give you marks like this.
10 - a perfect animal poem, with similes, no mistakes
8-9 - a couple of mistakes, or no similes
7 - a good poem, but more grammar mistakes
5-6 - poem is too short
1-4 - poem is not finished
TIP - a good way to get higher marks is to ask your teacher to help check your work!
